Hajók
Hajók are vehicles in Ashes of Creation. Ships are owned by the player who has the ship item in their inventory. Only that player can summon the ship.[3][4]
- Ship creation is generally delegated to players. There won't be many non-player-owned ships.[5]
- For the most part all ship creation will be delegated to the player. You have to build up a ship or find somebody who has one if you want to get across the seas.[5] – Steven Sharif
- Ship owners are able to grant permissions to allow other players to navigate their ships and access certain ship functions.[7][4]
- Ship navigators receive a significant defensive buff while they are navigating the ship. This reduces CC effects and increases damage mitigation significantly.[7]
- If the ship navigator is killed or otherwise removed from the ship then any player will be able to navigate the ship for a period of 15 to 20 minutes before the ship despawns and becomes a wreckage.[7]
- Other ship permissions may include operating weapons, anchors, and utility items.[4]
- Players will have quests that lead set them on a path toward creating a personal vessel at around level 10-15.[8]
- Player merchants will not be able to be placed on ships.[9]
- Nothing can move or or block ships, apart from other ships. Ships collisions come with the risk of significant damage to the vessels involved.[10][3]
- We adhere to some semblance of real physics feelings with regards to these vehicles; and so ships do have the potential to be pushed in different directions and out of the way for each other. That is an intended collision experience that we want ships to have. But it should come with significant risk and potential damage to the vessels themselves.[10] – Steven Sharif
Ship physics may be simulated to avoid performance issues.[11]
Naval content will be introduced into Alpha-2 as an update.[13][14][15]
- Naval will be an Alpha-2 in the sense that at after we launch Alpha-2, at some point in Alpha-2, naval will be implemented as an update; and that naval will be the ability to acquire components, construct those components, acquire recipes, construct certain types of ships, navigate those ships on the water, and engage in certain ship-to-ship interactions and ship-to-player interactions and ship-to-content interactions. Now, it won't be the aspect of that, meaning all ships won't be present: all types of those ships, all attachments of those ships. And it will be maybe a little bit janky to start because it's going to be an alpha version of it. But the intent there is to provide the loop where players get to go and interact with content in the ocean. That won't be at the start of Alpha-2, but it will be in Alpha-2.[13] – Steven Sharif
- Naval warfare.[15]
- Naval raid bosses.[14]
- Three ship classes will be present in Alpha-2.[15][16]
Ship classes
Hajók are divided into classes of vessel, which relate to their size and capabilities in battle and in transportation.[15][20][21]
Size | Type | Usage.[21] | Crew.[22] |
---|---|---|---|
Small | Personal vessels.[8] | Solo/personal content.[15] | 1-3 |
Medium | Frigates.[23] | Group content.[15] | Group size (8) |
Large | Galleons.[24][25] | Raid content.[15] | Raid size (40) |
The amount of crew required in order for a ship to be effective depends on the ship's class.[26]
- All ship classes minimally require a captain to drive the ship.[26]
- Certain ship classes will have the ability to render Crowd control (CC) effects on other ships, such as a harpoon effects.[27]
- Ships have their own class of vessel and the class that is related to the vessel has a certain purpose both in battle, in PvE raids, in transportation.[20] – Steven Sharif
Trade ships
Raft caravans (also referred to as Naval caravans) allow the transportation of cargo over the water.[30][31][32][33]
- Unlike merchant ships, raft caravans are capable of transitioning to and from land caravans at the point of intersection of land and water.[31][32][34][29][33]
- Raft caravans may only be used in rivers.[35]
- Currently the stats of the raft are informed by the components of the caravan. This may be changed based on testing.[36][29]
- By default, raft caravans have a racial appearance. Players will be able to apply caravan skins to change this appearance.[29]
Fishing boats
Fishing boats in Ashes of Creation are utilized in deep sea fishing.[38][39][40][41][42][43][44]
Summoning ships
Hajók (excluding raft caravans) can only be summoned from a port or harbor.[45][46][47][48]
- You can summon your ships up but you'll need to summon them from land, which means that if something happens to your armada out at sea you won't have backups to just summon immediately in the middle of the fight... They'll have to do so from shore somewhere from some port or harbor.[48] – Steven Sharif
- Rivers can only be used by caravan rafts. Ships that are intended for the ocean cannot travel upstream in a river. It is too shallow.[45] – Steven Sharif
- Rivers can only be used by raft caravans.[35] Previously it was stated that ships may be able to be summoned in rivers (or other bodies of water) depending on the depth of the water.[49]
- Raft caravans are capable of transitioning to and from land caravans at the point of intersection of land and water.[28][31][34][29][33]
Ship building
Ship building can be carried out by any player in possession of the right components, recipes, and an advanced enough node, coastal or not, with a harbor.[52][53][54][55]
- Various professions can craft ship components.[53][54] These components can be sold to other players.[56]
- Ships may only be crafted or upgraded in harbor ship workstations that are unlocked by the advancement of nearby nodes.[52] Previously this was stated to be coastal nodes.[53][56][57][58]
- Players can choose which "joints" get populated with either offensive weaponry, defensive, or utility attachments they want on their ship prior to construction completion.[51][59][60] The types of attachments that are available are dictated by the ship's class.[51]
- Ships will likely not have closed spaces or internal compartments such as Captain's quarters.[64]
- We are trying to stay away from internal compartments within the ships because that presents a whole different type of user interface and flow that can be a bit cumbersome and problematic, especially in combat and in closed spaces. So we're trying to stay away from that under deck aspect and keep things all on deck for better readability on the player side.[65] – Steven Sharif
Emblems
The user interface will allow emblems, logos and symbols to be designed in-game.[67][68][69]
- Q: Do nodes provide their citizens some kind of clothes or ornaments, capes, tabards, or something that they can basically represent their node?
- A: I mean technically the node does have a sigil or insignia and there will be certain armors that you can customize insignia and/or symbols on, so yes you could probably achieve that.[70] – Steven Sharif
- Emblem editor functionality is tentatively planned for Alpha-2.[69]
Naming ships
Hajók will be able to be named.[74][75]
Mariner classes
A tengerész kasztok különböző készség fákat adnak, a mesterség kasztokhoz hasonlóan. A játékos ezen készségek használatával szerzett tapasztalattal növeli ezek hatékonyságát.[76]
- Lőfegyver-kezelés.[76]
- Hajóvezetés.[76]
- Navigáció.[76]
- Hajó javítás.[76]
- Hajó alkotóelemek.[76]
- Védelmi készségek.[76]
- Hasznosság alapú készségek.[76]
You can spec into and create your own class based on what things you're doing on the boat... It's gonna be very similar to in structure to like the artisanship trees, so you'll you'll have your mariner class: You'll have different trees in that class.[76] – Jeffrey Bard
Haditengerészeti harc
Haditengerészeti harc involves different types of Hajók with varying capabilities, armaments and roles to play out on the high seas. There will be a balance and counterbalance between ships from Pvp and PvE perspectives.[14][21]
- Naval PvP is between ships.[21]
- Haditengerészeti PvE includes open sea raids and sea-based bosses.[14][21]
- Certain ship classes and components may support ramming of other vessels or raid bosses.[77]
- Ship weapons can damage both players and structures.[78]
- Damage done by ship weapons such as potion launchers will generate threat.[79]
- Characters can also use ranged skills during naval combat. Taunts and other threat generation skills can be utilised for tanking at sea.[79]
- Coastal points of interest, such as harbors, offer objective-based naval gameplay during node sieges.[80]
- There is a castle located on an island that is only able to be affected by naval combat.[80][81]
- Battles at sea will be epic. They will have some supreme rewards and/or losses if the battle succeeds or fails.[22] – Steven Sharif
- Naval combat allows ships to be hijacked, destroyed and looted, but it doesn't allow the attackers to permanently keep the ships.[82]
- Q: Will there be a way to produce enough experience for a node for those who want to spend the majority of their time on the open seas?
- A: The open seas have have a good amount of content; and that content when completed will give its contribution to a nearby node; and that is something that people who live on the sea, or desire to live on the sea, will be able to um contribute in a way.[83] – Steven Sharif
Guns and gunpowder
Gunpowder (black powder) weapons will not be present in Ashes of Creation.[86][87]
- Hajók will utilize a larger form of potion launcher in place of canons. These canons will be able to be equipped with different potions that have different effects.[85]
- I previously said there was not going to be gunpowder in Ashes. What there will be is something very similar to gunpowder but has a more arcane nature to it. It's not necessarily going to be explainable through the conventional means of chemistry, metallurgy, and physics and what not, but rather the Essence is the core component of many types of magic, one of which is obviously going to be evocation type magic; and that evocation can have some explosive tendencies.[86] – Steven Sharif
Weaponry such as Potion launchers, Siege weapons and weapons used in Haditengerészeti harc are based on the arcane arts.[85][86][88]
As we said in the past, were not really about that black powder life. Instead it's really going to be focused on the arcane arts: The elements; the use of radiance and darkness; and then those being employed in larger weaponry, such as the type of siege weaponry between ship battles as well as those and sieges. A potion launcher is an example of the arcane energies that can be mastered in order to facilitate these highly destructive alchemical blends that can be created.[88] – Steven Sharif
Hijacking ships
Certain ships can be hijacked, destroyed and looted, but the ships themselves cannot be permanently captured.[82][89]
- The cargo on a merchant ship will be similar to caravans in that the ship must be destroyed in order to capture the loot from its wreckage.[89]
Harbors
Harbors are initially dilapidated points of interest that appear in coastal areas.[52] Harbors have a significant amount of influence over the waters.[23]
- Harbors are where ships get built and launched and harbors are essentially dilapidated points of interest that progress when a node nearby, coastal or not, adopts that point of interest or that harbor. Then the node can contribute towards building up the harbor; and players who may not be citizens of that node can still go to that harbor and access its services.[52] – Steven Sharif
- A nearby node, coastal or not, will adopt the harbor point of interest and will contribute to its progression.[52]
- Ship building, ship upgrades, and other services offered by the harbor can be utilized by citizens and non-citizens of the node.[52]
- Previously it was stated that harbors would be controlled by a nearby Village (színpad 3) (or higher) coastal node.[92][23][56][57] It was also stated that ship workstations are only unlocked by the advancement of that coastal node.[53][56][57][58]
- Harbors have a disembarkation zone that merchant ships can cross to be guided into the harbor.[91]
- Merchant ships can only be launched and received at harbors in a similar way that land caravans can only be launched and received at a caravansary.[91]
- Harbors will grant quests that are related to naval content.[23][24][57]
- Coastal nodes are not directly siegeable by sea. Instead, harbors offer objective-based naval gameplay during node sieges.[92][80][93]
Haditengerészeti content refers to content above and below the sea.[23][96]
- Aquatic mounts.[96]
- Coastal nodes.[23][97]
- Fortresses.[23]
- Harbors.[56][57][23]
- Island chains.[96]
- Raft caravans.[98]
- Naval NPCs.[23]
- Naval PvP.[98]
- Küldetések.[23]
- Razziák.[23][98]
- Hajók.[23][96]
- Trade routes.[96]
- Kincskeresés.[23][96]
- Underwater dungeons.[98]
Enhanced naval content was unlocked as part of the $1,500,000 Kickstarter stretch goal.[99]
There will not initially be naval content (such as a Dark Lake) in the Altartomány, but this may be something that gets added in future expansions.[100]
There won't be class abilities that are specific to naval content, but some utility skills (such as underwater breathing) may be of some benefit.[101]
Emblems
The user interface will allow emblems, logos and symbols to be designed in-game.[67][68][69]
- Q: Do nodes provide their citizens some kind of clothes or ornaments, capes, tabards, or something that they can basically represent their node?

- Emblem editor functionality is tentatively planned for Alpha-2.[69]
Ship skins
Ship skins apply to certain ship types.[25]
- Building, ship, caravan and mount cosmetics require an in-game item to be obtained first to apply the cosmetic.[102][103]
